You are my Hero; but
\nnot in the traditional way.
\nYou’ve got the ever present
\nMask of stoicism;
\nthat barely hides
\nyour dancing eyes.
\nI see the hardships
\nof daily routine,
\nAs it grinds away
\nyour Mask.<\/p>\n

You go home only
\nbecause of responsibility;
\nto take care of the family,
\nand clean the house.
\nI would join for a while &
\ntry to lift your burdens;
\nyou’d impart only a taste &
\nthen pull it back inside.<\/p>\n

After pain &
\nanguish & a lot of trust.
\nYou opened up & shared
\nyourself & I found a softer touch.
\nYou let your mask down &
\nI opened up my heart.
\nI was only an outlet
\nfor some emotion;
\nYou are my confidant &
\nbest friend.<\/p>\n

I saw & know how
\nyou handle pain,
\nHolding it inside
\n’till you bust to let it go.
\nI can see it in your eyes &
\nhear it in your voice;
\nbut, the pain you hold
\nis used to make you strong.<\/p>\n

I’m learning now &
\ngrowing more.
\nto learn & emulate
\nyour good points;
\nAnd to grow from
\nmy pain
\nis my goal – but is it in vain?<\/p>\n

We are now close to heart
\nbut far away.
\nThis brings great sadness & dismay.
\nI look up to & honor you;
\nI can’t let a day
\npass away without a thought of you.<\/p>\n

To deny my existence
\nwould be to destroy me;
\nso, go your way & think not of
\nme, but
\nforget not a letter &
\nAlive I will be.<\/p>\n
